United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), Delhi in partnership with the South Asian Women Development Forum (SAWDF) organized a training program on “Training of Women Entrepreneurs on Expanding Business through E-commerce and Digital Marketing” scheduled for 4 April 2022, (21st Chaitra) in Kathmandu, Nepal. The event participated of 70 international delegates and around 30 delegates from Nepal.
Honorable Minister, Ms. Ram Kumari Jhakri, Minister of Urban Development, attended the inaugural ceremony as the chief guest and launched a manual titled “Beginner’s Manual on Digital Marketing and E-commerce.” Dr. Baikuntha Aryal, the Secretary, of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MoCIT), graced the Concluding Session with a Special address on April 6, 2022.
Among the many national and international delegates who attended the event were Mr. Abdoulie Jammeh, Deputy Permanent Secretary, of Gambia’s Ministry of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment, Dr. Rajan Sudesh Ratna, Deputy Head, of ESCAP South and South West Asia Office, New Delhi, and Ms. Aanchal Kunwar, MD, Daraz Nepal, to name a few.
The plenary sessions on “E-tourism marketing,” and “Handicraft and Agriculture: Leveraging Digital Technology Opportunities” had sectoral discussions with leading experts, entrepreneurs, and trade consultants for sharing experiences/ expertise gained, how digitally diversified /reinvented their enterprises during the Covid-19 pandemic and discuss the recent innovations, trends, and challenges encountered, and solutions adopted to overcome the challenges created by the pandemic.
The two and half day training program focused on enhancing the capacity of the women entrepreneurs of South Asia to use digital and online platforms for promoting business through e-commerce and creating awareness of the existing opportunities.
