South Asian Women Development Forum, in collaboration with Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, has officially commenced the first cohort of the training program under the project “Innovative Financial Solutions for Local Food Systems Transformation in Nepal.”
The program is designed to support women entrepreneurs with established businesses as well as aspiring startups working across Nepal’s agri-food sector, including agriculture production, food processing, packaging, distribution, agri-technology, livestock, dairy, agri-waste management, and other value-added enterprises. Through this initiative, participants are being equipped with practical entrepreneurial knowledge, business development skills, and investment readiness support to strengthen and scale their enterprises.
The first cohort officially began on April 29, 2026, with the commencement of the 6-day Business Model Training facilitated by renowned entrepreneur and business expert Suman Shakya from Tangent Waves. The sessions focused on helping participants refine their business ideas, strengthen their business models, identify market opportunities, and develop sustainable growth strategies through practical and interactive learning approaches.
Following the successful completion of the Business Model Training, the first cohort officially commenced its 4-day Financial Model Training on May 28, 2026. The first day of the training was facilitated by financial experts Sanam Chitrakar and Anuo Tamang from Aadhyanta Fund Management Limited. The training aims to strengthen participants’ financial planning, budgeting, costing, pricing, and investment readiness capacities, enabling them to prepare sustainable and finance-ready business plans.
Through this initiative, South Asian Women Development Forum and Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations remain committed to promoting women’s economic empowerment, strengthening women-led enterprises, and contributing to the transformation of Nepal’s local food systems through innovative and inclusive financial solutions.
