Research on " Bridging the Gender Divide in the Digital Ecosystem for Women Entrepreneurs in Nepal"

SAWDF has successfully completed research project on "Bridging the Gender Divide in the Digital Ecosystem for Women Entreprenuers in Nepal" in collaboration with United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Bangkok. The main objective of the study was to identify gaps in their access to the digital ecosystem such as infrastructure constraints, socio-cultural hurdles and capacity issues, as well as future recommendations for addressing those gaps. A total of 1000 respondents were selected for the study as a sample size from four different provinces of Nepal including Mountain, Hilly an Terai (plain) regions. Out of 1000 respondents, 250 respodents was selected from each province. For a comparative study, sample respondents came from both urban and rural areas. Respondents were women entrepreneurs’ who belong to diverse sectors such as agriculture/green tech, service, handicraft, etc.

 

The research wore conducted in following locations:

 

Province 1: Morang, Sunsari, Jhapa, Illam, Dhankuta
Province 2: Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Kavre, Nuwakot, Sindhupalchowk
Province 4: Kaski, Tanahu, Lamjung, Mustang, Baglung
Province 5: Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Palpa, Banke, Bardiya/Dang
