The Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology Government of India organized an International Summit on Women in STEM with the theme -“Visualizing the Future: New Skylines” on 23-24th January 2020 in Delhi, India. The summit was organized with the aim to evaluate the current conceptual thinking on increasing the participation of women in STEM and provide a platform for the next generation of women scientists to interact and network with leaders in the relevant field.
Ms. Pramila Acharya Rijal, President of the South Asian Women Development Forum attended as one of the speakers for the summit. She delivered a presentation on the status of women in STEM Activities in Nepal and highlighted the need for more women's involvement in the STEM sector. Likewise, SAWDF VP chapters Ms. Damchae Dem of the SAWDF chapter Bhutan, Ms. Shirley Jayawardena of the SAWDF chapter Sri Lanka, and Dr. Marriyam Shakeela of SAWDF chapter Maldives also spoke on the occasion.
