Across Barriers-International Business Women’s Summit 2017

SAWDF organized a two-day, international summit, with the theme “Across Barriers-International Business Women’s Summit” on 11th-12th September 2017 in Kathmandu, Nepal. The international summit focused on two prime sectors (i) the Service sector focusing on Tourism & Information Technology (IT) and (ii) Manufacturing focusing on Agriculture and Textiles.

Participants

There were over one hundred participants representing Women Business Owners, Development Partners, Market, and Sectoral Experts, and leading stakeholders in the field of women’s economic empowerment, across multiple networks from the ASEAN, SAARC Regions, People’s Republic of China, and business women from other countries.

Representatives from eighteen countries attended the summit with twelve international speakers. There were 70 Nepalese women entrepreneurs, not only from Kathmandu but from other parts of Nepal so that they can network and look into the possibilities of greater market opportunities.

Major Outcome

Signing MOU between SAWDF and Association of Lady Entrepreneurs of India (ALEAP) to work together for establishing the Women Entrepreneurs Trade and Technology Hub (WITH) at Vishakhapatnam Port, India to facilitate mutual trade opportunities for women entrepreneurs regionally and internationally.

Signing MOU between SAWDF and AWEN to replicate the model of the GREAT WOMEN ASEAN Project in SAARC for fostering women entrepreneurship and women empowerment within the SAARC and ASEAN region.
